#KashmirFightsCovid
Just like the rest of the sub-continent, Kashmir is in the grips of the Corona Virus crisis. The daily case count being reported from Kashmir continues to rise, so does the death count. Kashmir is forced to fight the pandemic with even poorer health infrastructure than bigger cities like Delhi. Compared with 199 beds in Delhi and 398 in Maharashtra, Jammu & Kashmir has just 59 beds per 100K population. The only two tertiary care hospitals in Kashmir are located in the capital city of Srinagar. As such, remote districts of the valley are even more under-resourced as case count continues to mount. Our non-profit partner Athrout is on the ground and responding to the crisis. It is acquiring Concentrators, therapeutics & oxygen cylinders while continuing its mission to get food & basic supplies to those in need. All of the proceeds from this fundraiser will go towards strengtheningĀ Athrout's hands so that it is better resourced to respond to the pandemic. The spending will be transparent down to the last cent & we will share updates of work being done across our social channels. You can donate either food kits that can feed a family of 5 for 3-4 weeks or oxygen concentrators, paying for them in part or whole.
