In a one of a kind craft, which springs forth to life somewhere in the remote village of Ganderbal is a painting - a splendid piece of wall decor which captures the pain of a woman crying in wait of her beloved within the realms of stone art. The handmade painting takes a meticulous process on part of its sole artisan who handpicks the stones all the way from Sonmarg and washes and crushes them in a traditional grinder called "Nyaem" in the native Kashmiri language. These naturally colored stones are passed through a sieve to separate the finer ones from their thicker counterparts. It is then that these crushed stones are stuck over a jute base, partially colored to depict the pool of tears that it sheds. The art work is finally varnished for an added finesse and easy cleaning. Treat your barren walls with the beauty of the exquisite art form, harnessed in the remote village of Ganderbal.
