In a one of a kind craft, which exists somewhere in the remote village of Ganderbal is a painting - a splendid piece of wall decor which blends in the breathtaking beauty of tulip flowers with the spectacular craft of stone art. The handmade painting takes a meticulous process on part of its sole artisan who handpicks the stones all the way from Ganderbal and Sonmarg and washes and crushes them in a traditional grinder called "Nyaem" in the native Kashmiri language. The stones hence gathered have a natural color about them, lent to them by the hues of Nature and are passed through a sieve to separate the finer ones from their thicker counterparts. It is then that these are stuck with skillful precision over a wooden ply board and varnished to bring out the serenity resting within them. Treat your barren walls with the beauty of the exquisite art form, harnessed in the remote village of Ganderbal.
Stone Art is an initiative taken by a young artist who discovered his love for art at an early age and never gave up on his dream of creating a new art form. He is the only artist of his kind who collects naturally colored stones from remote highlands of Kashmir Valley and shapes them into exquisite paintings. However, these paintings do not fetch him any major income. Manzoor, who was once ready to quit his art form has now decided to continue with it. He now sells to the world.
