It goes without saying that the colors which are used in this joyful festival contain harsh chemicals which cause some serious abuse to your skin and hair, leaving then dry, chapped and in some cases causing breakouts and allergies. To make your color play a truly carefree one, get yourself to follow these simple precautions and tips and indulge in a splash of colors with your family and friends.

Tone your skin properly

A few days before Holi, make it a point to clean and tone your skin properly, preferably with organic cleansers and toner. For those who don’t know, rose water is a natural toner and reduces pore size to prevent seepage of colors!

2

Don’t forget to wear a sun shield

In all the excitement that surrounds Holi, do not forget to wear your sunscreen AND a thick moisturizer. Make it a point to apply it over and behind ear lobes and all your exposed body parts.

Even if you hate it, oil your hair and skin

To prevent the skin from damage, apply olive oil/ Almond oil all over body and hair. Most of you hate to oil your hair but it is extremely important to apply excess oil on scalp till hair tips to prevent damage. You can use olive oil, almond oil or castor oil. Remember to tie them in a bun or tie a scarf over your head to protect hair. Our recommendation would be a combination of olive oil and rosemary essential oil.

 Wear full sleeved clothes

To ensure a minimum contact of colors with your skin, wear full sleeved clothes. Your clothes soak up most of the color, thereby shielding your delicate skin from the harsh chemicals of colors!

Once you are done with your color play, now is the time to clean up.

Use an organic soap

Because the routine soaps are alkaline in nature, they leave your skin dry and might even react with the chemicals that have seeped in! Our recommendation would a cruel free skin care regime – one that is devoid of all chemicals and is natural in its true essence. We would recommend Kashmir Essences Organic Handmade soaps for that extra nourishment and a chemical free soft skin!

Wipe it away with an oil

Dab some organic olive or almond oil over your skin and then wipe it away gently with cotton balls. This way, you are going to have a clearer skin and a boost of nourishment!

Shampoo it away

The colors do equal harm to your hair as well. Use a mild shampoo and a conditioner to clean up your hair. Once you are done, spray some lavender mist for oil free nourishment and care. You can even make a hair mask of organic pure honey, yogurt and olive oil after cleaning your gorgeous mane with a shampoo.

A lip balm is quintessential

Because the color smear will include your lips, you will need a nourishing lip balm to keep your lips soft and nourished.

And now that we are well acquainted with our cruel free skin care regimen, we can enjoy our Holi in the most carefree way possible! Cheers!
